This March marks the 5th edition of The Doc Shopand we’re excited to be bringing it back in its most hands-on format yet.
The Doc Shop is a one-day, in-person intensive for photographers who want to refine their documentary approach at a deeper, more intentional level.
What We Cover On The Day
This is a full, live-led day, taught by both Annie and Kevin from start to finish.
We walk through an entire wedding as a creative and technical process, from morning prep to the dance floor, including:
How we approach a wedding day as a documentary story, not a shot list
Anticipation, timing, and positioning in fast-moving environments
Composition under pressure and in difficult light
Our full gear setup and why we use what we use
Flash for documentary work, when to use it and when to leave it alone
Editing for narrative, emotional flow, and impact
How awards images are actually made, selected, and refined
Portfolio reviews and group critique, focused on helping you see patterns and gaps in your own work
This is open, practical, and honest. We share what works for us, what doesn’t, and the thinking behind every choice we make.
